ASHA’s 50 Sites, 50 Stories Initiative

To celebrate the Australasian Society for Historical Archaeology’s 50th year in 2020, we are collecting stories about important historical archaeological sites from the Australasian region. Nominations are open to everyone so if you know of an important terrestrial, maritime or other site, and it meets our criteria, then we would love you to nominate.The 50 Sites 50 Stories initative will be published in time for the 50th Anniversary celebrations in September 2020. The nomination information will be summarised and edited by the 50 Sites 50 Stories Committee to prepare 50 short site summaries. Nominators will have the opportunity to review and revise submitted data before being shared on the website, and will be acknowledged as contributing authors.Our three nomination criteria are:The site must have been subject to formal archaeological investigation compliant with legislation in the region and at the time of excavation.All regions in Australasia will be consideredAnyone can nominate a site.Nominate HERE:https://forms.gle/NtdRBPVF5GKrPrCC8We understand that you many not have all the information at hand so simply complete the form with as much information as you can provide, and don’t worry if you can’t answer all the questions.
